  1. Just found your blog and wanted to say congrats, it is brilliant. I gave up working outside the home because of relentless guilt, tiredness and a final meltdown because I did not know where the clean towels were in my own house.

My day started with getting myself up and ready, feeding and walking the dog, getting my son up and fed and ready and taken to friend’s house, dash to station, start day. My husband’s day started with shower, suit, hop in car, start day. My resentment for him was huge. But he is not a bad husband or a bad dad – we just live in a bad culture for women.

I know a stay at home dad whose wife rings me at night to find out the homework requirements for their son. He is a good person but cannot cope with the so called lazy drop out option of being home with two boys full time and needs help from a full time worker in the evenings. Imagine how useless he would be considered if he was a woman.

Sorry getting in a rant now, just wanted to say you made me smile and thanks. Jean

    1. We all need to rant Jean!! Thanks for the comments. I think it’s particularly difficult if for logistical or any other reasons the mother bears the majority of the responsibility. I love the idea that your friend has to ring you at night to find out the homework! Well love might be the wrong word….. Thanks again for commenting

    1. hi Linda,
Thanks for stopping by – my dream is to work from home, I just can’t figure out how to do it!
Looking forward to checking out your blog

  3. Hi there,

I love your blog -I have recently set up my own blog as a working mum and wondered how you got off your feet as a blogger and if you have any tips.

I have a lot to do but will keep on going and hope that you will have a look at my website and share any ideas you have to get the blog out there!
    Thanks x

    1. Well done on starting a blog! When I started out, I really just focused on writing posts and building up social media followers – so no silver bullet advice there I’m afraid. But if you enjoy writing, that’s a brilliant start, and everything else will follow naturally. Best of luck with it!

  4. I just came across your website and I must say, it is making me feel so much better about being back at work again having been away for 10 months! Such lovely, practical, and NORMAL topics that don’t make me feel like I’m a bad mama for sometimes enjoying escaping to work to get a break from the teething, nappies, cold cups of tea, etc etc! So, thank you!
And PS, would be great if you had (or can point the direction of) some tips for mamas who’d like to make something of crafting at home (I know, where does the time come from?!). I know of some mammies who do it but it’s hard to know where to start.

    1. Hi Ciara,
What a lovely message – thank you! I think it’s very normal to enjoy escaping to work – I think there are some who don’t but it’s often because they’re in a job they don’t enjoy. So it’s all good if you’re happy!
For crafting, check out WhereWishesComeFrom which is a gorgeous craft and parenting blog, also HeyAliBlog who has just had a book published called Get Crafty – perfect for starting out. Good luck!

  5. Just finished reading ‘one click’. Hadn’t heard of the book before, just picked it up Dublin airport Thursday evening and thought it looked promising.
I was right! Thoroughly enjoyed hoped it, found it hard to put down. The writer in me envied your plot line but delighted in the way you told the story. And unusually in books like this, you had me red-herringed into cul-de-sacs right to the end.
A very satisfying, enjoyable and un-put-downable work, absolutely loved it. You have a great talent and I wish you continued success.
Looking forward to finding out what happened on the other side of the wall.

    1. Wow, what a fantastic comment to find as I log on to my laptop tonight – thank you so much! You write reviews very well – I’d love to quote from what you’ve written here in my reviews page if that’s okay? Delighted now – thank you for taking the time to get in touch!

  6. Hi Andrea,

I’ve noticed on your blog you discuss camping with your family and I wanted to let you know about a community I’ve just created on Facebook called Family Camping Europe.

I want to build a community for families to share their campsite experiences throughout Europe (that includes the UK too!). I think your input would really help other families to make informed choices about their camping trips.

Have you been to a campsite in Europe you absolutely loved? One you’d recommend to everyone? then shout about it in the group!!
Been to a campsite that was horrible and you’d advise people never to go? Rant about it in the group!
Want to visit a new place in Europe but have no idea where to begin, ask about it in the group!
I want to make the group a hub for all things family camping. A group you can come to for advice and a group that answers your questions.
The more people we get in the group, the more recommendations, reviews and experiences we’ll get.I hope Family Camping Europe is something you can find benefit from.

A little bit about me and why I’ve set up the group:

I’m an ex-campsite worker for a large family brand so I have a lot of experience in the camping world and I wanted to create a group that I am not only passionate about, but have skills and knowledge in. I’m also pregnant with my first child so I’m really excited to be creating a family based community.

As a blogger too, I wanted to ensure the group has a wide range of people with similar interests and I’m thinking (once I hit around 1000 members) to start a #talkativetuesdays where bloggers can share a post related to camping.

Would love to know if this is a community you’d like to join?

Many thanks for reading my email (hope it wasn’t too long or boring).
    Breanne 🙂

  7. Hi I just came across your review of Bella italia campsite. We are looking at booking the apartment or bungalow. But very mixed reviews online. How long ago did you go?

    1. Hi Emma,
I’ve just spotted your comment now – sorry for the delay! I don’t get notifications about comments so often miss them. We stayed in Bella in 2018 and again in 2021. We loved it both times but we were staying in mobile homes, not a bungalow. Best wishes, Andrea
