The poor third child. Two weeks ago, we were asked by his teacher to bring wellies in to preschool, so at home that afternoon, I picked them up to pack them in his bag. They looked a little small so I got him to try them on. He couldn’t get his feet into them. I checked the boots – two sizes smaller than he wears. And looking a little worse for wear. Unsurprisingly, since they were bought six years ago, and belonged to both of his older sisters over that time. No offence to Peppa, but it was time for some new wellies.
Then most serendipitously, the very next day, I got an email from Susan Joyce, asking if I’d like to try out some boots from her site, Oh My Welly. Perfect timing! I had a look at the kids’ selection, and spotted some rainbow boots. “Rainbowish” is my three-year-old’s favourite colour, so there was no question – these were the ones.
Susan, a mum of four, told me a little about herself as we corresponded over and back.
“I’m an IT consultant by day, an online retailer by night and a mother of four 24×7. The idea for OhMyWelly started one wet miserable evening on my way home from work when I passed a girl wearing a fab pair of wellies and I thought “that’s what I need”. After a bit of googling I couldn’t find anything I liked. I wanted something fashionable, practical and which didn’t cost a fortune. I found Evercreatures and the idea for OhMyWelly was born.
Apart from wanting a new pair of wellies, starting something of my own had always been on my bucket list. In my 20s I thought I had loads of time to do everything I wanted, in my 30s I had four babies and I was working and there was never a second. When I turned 40 I thought I’d better get on with it because there just won’t ever be time. So I went for it and now OhMyWelly is there. Its small but its mine. I’ve learned loads, I love the wellies and who knows how things will go.
I’ll never want for wellies again and I wear them on wet school runs, to work on those miserable days, weekends in Tipperary when I get down for a visit and most recently walking the dog.”
I kind of love Susan. And my three-year-old LOVES his new wellies – I caught his reaction on video:
The wellies are great – super quality, gorgeous colourful design. We tested them out by jumping in puddles. Well, this wasn’t quite my idea, but it did tick the box of a proper review – they are definitely puddle-proof.
They’re a fabulous product and a really great way to brighten up a rainy day – they make wearing wellies fun. Susan has women’s and men’s boots available on OhMyWelly too, and the good news is, she has kindly offered me a pair to give away to one reader. So if you’d like to be in with the chance of winning a pair of boots from OhMyWelly (any pair – adults’ or kids’) just comment below, or comment on Facebook or share on Twitter (don’t forget to tag @Office_Mum and @OhMyWelly so we know to count you in!)
I love Susan’s story, and I hope the business goes really well for her. If you could, please do like her Facebook page or follow her on Twitter, and if you like the idea of colourful, practical, really good quality wellies, you know where to go!

A pair of colourful wellies would be just the thing to cheer up this miserable wet morning in Cork – I may just have to put them through the puddle test myself!!
It is lashing here too – I was jealous of everyone I saw in wellies this morning!

Also In Cork and can barely see out the window for the rain!!

Do they come in adult sizes? 🙂 Would love a pair of these for my little one. Jumping in muddy puddles is her favourite pastime. Thank you Peppa.
