Of course you expect to go back to the same job – and your employer knows that demoting you is illegal. Your salary cannot be decreased nor can your title be taken away, unless you agree to it. But as a recent court case showed, not every employer is aware. What’s important is that employees know their rights and know when they’re being infringed. Returning to work after maternity leave can be a challenging time – worrying about whether your job will be same shouldn’t be an extra concern.
